Our March Issue
There are more than 300 miles of trails in the Upstate that
are open to some combination of running, hiking, mountain biking and camping.
So, how do you decide which is best for you on any given weekend? Which will
test you and your buddies? Which one is best for the family? Which one have we
missed over the years?
The Greenville County Recreation District wants people to
“Get Out” this October. The Get Out Greenville festival is being modeled after
the famed Mountain Sports Festival in Asheville that is held every May, said
Joe Lanahan, program director with the recreation district and the event’s
director.
Cats vs. dogs. Tigers vs. Gamecocks. Republicans vs.
Democrats. Cyclists vs. runners.
Three of those four are dyed in the wool archrivals, and the
fourth – cyclists and runners – may beteetering on the verge when it comes to
the Greenville Hospital System’s Swamp Rabbit Trail.
There’s a new game in town, one that combines the strategy
and cooperation of team sports with the physical challenges of a long-distance
endurance competition. It’s water polo, and it’s one of the world’s most
popular water sports. Now, thanks to coaches Samantha Lawson and Matthew Bills,
Greenville is jumping in to join the fun.
March can be cold but...
When you get older, you become a lot more interested in the
weather. Add to that a regular outdoor schedule, like running, and you can get
down right obsessive.
